Call for Applications

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Trustees1, via its Nominating and Board Structure Committee, invites applications for the position of Alumni Trustee. The Board seeks individuals of the highest integrity who demonstrate a strong commitment to devote their knowledge, time, and financial resources to the benefit of the university. The term for the Alumni Trustee is three years, and the individual elected to the position will begin serving at the Fall Meeting.

Voting

The election will be conducted online. To ensure your email address is up to date, please click on the following link: TUalumni@tuskegee.edu.ÌýÌýTo participate in the online voting process, an e-mail will be sent to your current e-mail address on file from the company Votenet Solutions, Inc. The email will provide additional instructions on the voting procedures through the eBallot system.

The Board has created an ad hoc committee comprised of alumni to establish the candidate review and screening process. The committee will recommend up to six candidates to the Board’s Nominating and Board Structure Committee. The Nominating and Board Structure Committee will then evaluate the recommendations and select up to three candidates to stand for election by the alumni community.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for a position as an Alumni Trustee:

  • Will have an earnedÌýdegree from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ;
  • Will have a demonstrated commitment to the university and its alumni, through active involvement, which may include participation in alumni organizations recognized by the university including Tuskegee National Alumni Association or one of its constituent organizations;
  • Will have a demonstrated commitment to the university through appropriate philanthropic support; and
  • Will be distinguished through either volunteer or professional activities.

1 The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board of Trustees is comprised of no less than 17 and no more than 25 voting members. Twenty members serve as a self-perpetuating body, with the remaining five trustees being appointed by the governor of the state of Alabama. In addition to the voting members, the president of the university, the faculty senate chair, a student and Alabama’s state superintendent of education serve as non-voting ex officio members.
