The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees is accepting applications from interested candidates for an elected alumni Trustee position until midnight July 11. The alumni Trustee will serve a three-year term on the Board.

Members of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees have a significant responsibility in ensuring the university’s success by providing experience and access to resources that support the President’s ability to drive programming for Tuskegee students to accomplish their academic goals and ultimately career success.

The Board is comprised of up to 25 voting members, which includes five Trustees appointed by the Alabama governor. Board-appointed Trustees serve for three years, and state-appointed Trustees serve for four years. There are several nonvoting ex-officio members, including the President, a faculty Trustee, who is the faculty senate chair, a student Trustee elected by the student body, and Alabama’s state superintendent of education.

The process includes the application phase, review of applications by the Ad Hoc Committee on Alumni Trustee elections, selection of up to six candidates to be considered by the Nominating and Board Structure Committee, then a recommendation of no more than three candidates that alumni will be able to vote on via electronic ballot through a third-party vendor.

Candidates may apply . The new Trustee will be announced mid-August and begin serving on Sept. 1. Visit the university website for updates on the voting process.

Tuskegee alumni who are not already receiving regular updates from Alumni Affairs, should email tualumni@tuskegee.edu to be added to the database.
